Dr. Hannie Schoeman

Dr. Hannie Schoeman is the founder of the Centre for Play Therapy and Training and the presenter of this course. With decades of hands-on experience, she has devoted her life to promoting the emotional well-being of children through therapeutic practice, training, and research.
Dr. Schoeman has studied and worked internationally, including in Santa Barbara (USA) and Canada, and has lectured at several universities for over 30 years, among them the University of Pretoria, UNISA, and North-West University (Potchefstroom).
Her commitment extends beyond academia into her local community, where she actively collaborates with schools and child-focused organisations throughout the Overberg region. Passionate about empowering others, Dr. Schoeman continues to train and mentor Gestalt play therapists both locally and internationally, offering regular presentations and workshops in person and online via platforms such as Skype.
She is a registered member of the South African Council for Social Service Professions and has served as the South African representative for the International Association for the Advancement of Gestalt Therapy (IAAGT). Throughout her distinguished career, she has supervised more than 50 Master’s and 14 Doctoral candidates in the field of Play Therapy, underscoring her enduring dedication to the growth and development of therapeutic work with children.
